Manufacturers are constantly striving to meet the latest emissions requirements for new vehicles. Diesels Particulate Filters (DPF’S) are fitted to all modern diesels. There are slight variations in how these systems work, but the end result is still to reduce harmful emissions from being emitted into the atmosphere.
Diesel cars are designed to maintain the DPF without any intervention from the driver apart from taking the vehicle on regular motorway drives, to allow the DPF filter to reach a temperature of approximately 600 degrees celsius for successful regeneration. In addition to the DPF system, some modern diesels are also fitted with an Adblue system, designed to reduce the NoX content emitted from the exhaust. This system comprises of multiple components that are designed to work together to reduce the emissions emitted from the exhaust. When these systems becomes faulty, it requires sophisticated diagnostic equipment along with expert knowledge to find the fault and get the system working again.
