Vehicle Electrical Diagnostics FAQ's

What is involved in diagnosing a fault?
Vehicles technology is rapidly advancing. Diagnosing a fault with a car is not as simple as just plugging in a diagnostic machine and it just tells us the fault. For a fault to be properly diagnosed, it involves many steps using expert knowledge, accurate tech info and advanced diagnostic equipment to work through your fault methodically, to find the cause and the necessary repair needed to get you back on the road.
Should I ignore a warning light on my vehicle?
If you have a warning light on your car it is always best to get it checked. You may be tempted to ignore your light if your vehicle seems to be driving normally. Doing this could make a fault far worse in the long run than if you get it looked at straight away. A good example of this. If your management light is on for a fault with your DPF. You may not be aware, but the longer you leave a DPF fault the worse it becomes and the more expensive to repair.
Does the computer tell us what is wrong with a vehicle?
It would be really nice if this was the case, but unfortunately it's not. A computer diagnostic will provide us with valuable information stored in your vehicle and give us access to live data that is important when diagnosing a fault. But a computer diagnostic is just the starting point and is no way a diagnosis to what is causing your fault
